    Spring Skiing!

I was pleasantly surprised to wake up one morning and find 16in of fresh snow and still more falling rapidly.  I spent most of the day outside, skiing, snowshoeing and jumping into the deep powder — it was hard to come indoors.

Just two weeks later I was roller-skiing in shorts and a t-shirt and still sweating! although a little disappointed to be roller-skiing this early in the year, the 65 degree weather and clean clear roads where quite enjoyable. I still wish it was snow.

Today I arrived at a sweet cabin in Canada.  I will be racing here twice and I’m pretty excited! it will be my first time racing outside of the USA. After the two races in Canada I’m heading to vermont for spring series.

    Good to be home!

After successfully racing the Tour De Twin Cities its nice to be back home and on natural snow.  During the ten days in the Twin Cities I was a little bummed to be missing all the excitement of the IPC world cup at Telemark Lodge, and  I was pleasantly surprised to find out there were still two races left when I got back. I spent the first race outside and thoroughly impressed by the strength and determination of these athletes. The second race however I spent in the luxury of my room, looking of my balcony with a hot cup of coffee and a steaming plate of pancakes! Life is good.

Although warm out the Cable area trails are still well covered and fast as ever.

    IPC World Cup Prep

With a couple days off from work I was able to help with the preparation for the IPC Nordic world cup races — soon to be held at Telemark.  I mostly painted pieces for the Biathlon range Painting

The skiing at telemark has been pretty decent and along with the short man-made loop quite a few of the trails have been rolled.  There are a few rocks here and there, and a couple uncovered patches but its worth getting out.

I was also fortunate enough to visit ABR for some quality skiing.  The Trails are well covered and I hope to get back out there soon.

Earlier this morning I was able to go for a classic roller-ski with fellow teammate Carolyn and our Coach Gus.

During the ski we did a few level four intervals which felt awesome, and even more importantly I had great technical improvements while striding!  Being close to two weeks since I worked with a coach I pleased to get out with some of the team and enjoy the fall colors.  In just two days we heads to a camp Utah. I’m excited for the trip, the training, and reconnecting with the team!

Last night I finally added fish to my tank after it sat empty for just over a month

Pseudotropheus Demasoni are a cave dwelling fish that like to hide in shells and dig tunnels in the sand.

    Weekend in Duluth

With 3 days off from work I decided to take a quick road trip to Duluth.

    Ski Jump

My Dad dropped me off just in time to get a lifting session in with some Teammates I raced with at St. Scholastica. After lifting, we grilled out and took in the nice weather.  I was also able to do an agility session and endurance run with the Lake Superior Ski Club.

    Quick Jumps

The humidity was out in full force during the workout so we decided it was best to head over to the deeps and do some cliff Jumping into Lester river.

It was really nice to train and hang-out with a great group of buddies that live in Duluth.  To conclude my adventure I biked back to cable.  After a slight detour in Superior it ended up being a beautiful 95 mile ride.  I took mainly country roads, which turned out to be very well paved with minimal traffic.
